DTU Troubleshooting Manual

The most common mistakes: 

1.Wiring issues 

User's fault:  No response to power up

Analyzing causes: The gearbox motor or battery connection is not normal

 

2.Trigger does not respond when energized

User's fault:There was only one long beep followed by three short beeps on the power up, and no response to pulling the trigger. A long beep followed by three short beeps is the fire control into the fast mode tone, the conductive sheet stays in the single shot position and the trigger to power up the tone, if there is no trigger, the trigger switch has been held down, the fire control has been that the trigger has not been released!

Solution: The trigger switch is in the hold state usually because the trigger switch is pressed by the wiring or there is a foreign object jammed to affect the normal pop-up of the switch, please dismantle the gearbox to investigate.

 

 3. The ESC driver board has been damaged

User Fault: Does not work, just buzzing

Analyzing causes: The ESC driver board has been damaged, the use of other brands of fire control caused by the failure can not be a warranty

 

4. Circuit board short circuit

User's fault: After the installation of V3 2.0, the MOSFET was found through the app and Bluetooth, and the link was used to check that all sensors were working properly. But after that, the board stopped working in order to check the actual ignition. I checked and found that the component was burnt out.
Now the MOSFET doesn't work and it doesn't show up on the app. I guess the faulty component is used to receive power from the battery. The battery used is a NiMh 8.4v which has been used before on a T238 Mosfet without problems.

Check results: The upper and lower board pin sockets are desoldered, or the back of the board is not properly insulated.

5. Only single shots, not bursts.

User's fault: Only single shots, not bursts.
Analyzing causes: There is a 'beep' beep between the single continuous switch, if not, it means that the position of the fire-control fast and slow machine switch in the continuous position is not detected in the conductive sheet, which means that the width of the conductive sheet is not wide enough to trigger the fast and slow machine switch.
Solution: Please ensure that the conductive sheet and the fast and slow machine with normal activities, the conductive sheet can slide left and right, and then appropriate widening of the conductive sheet to ensure that the conductive sheet is in the position of the continuous hair can be pressed fast and slow machine fast shutdown

6. Unstable in single or bursts

Analyzing causes: Inaccurate position of the conductive sheet in the middle of the single shot/continuous shot state, random switching between single shot/continuous shot by vibration, or loose circuit boards leading to poor contact between the gear switch and the water droplet gear, or poor contact between the trigger and the trigger switch, which does not trigger the switch completely, leading to repeated triggering and the production of multiple consecutive shots.

Solution: Please ensure that the conductive sheet and the fast and slow machine can slide left and right, and then modify the conductive sheet appropriately to ensure that the conductive sheet is in the single-shot position when the fast and slow machine switch can be exposed not to be pressed by the conductive sheet, and the conductive sheet is in the continuous position to be able to press the fast and slow machine switch: Modify the angle of the trigger and the distance between the trigger and the trigger switch, and refer to the gear gearing in the trigger rotating bushing shims to limit the distance between the trigger and the trigger switch.

 

7. User's fault: Influent single Shot but the ‘auto’ mode is normal.

Fault Analysis: Gear is too close to the gear sensor or the circuit board is loose. 

Solution: Please fix the circuit board on the gearbox and modify the lever on the gear switch based on actual situation then reassemble the DTU to test.

 

8. User's fault: DTU burn down instantly after trigger is pulled.

Fault Analysis: Polarities of the motor (Gearbox) are connected reversely Short circuit occurs on the wire that connects the motor.

Solution: Please check connector of the motor is reversal or not, is there a short circuit or damage in the wire, Please contact after-sales for a solution.

 

9.User's  fault:DTU burn down instantly after battery is connected.

Fault Analysis: Battery is connected reversely.

Solution: Please check the connector of the battery is
Reversal or not, Please contact after-sales for solution.

 

10User's fault: Critical wire heating

Fault Analysis: Critical heating of wire is because
torque of motor is not enough for
load or the load is too much (Gears are too tight or the main spring is too strong); It could also be the discharge rate of battery is not enough or the battery is in an overload situation for a long time.

Solution: Battery with higher discharge rate and capacity is recommended. In addition, for connectors of the battery, it is recommended to use XT30 or mini-Tamiya connector. Investigate the tightness of the gears, the strength of the main spring, and the smoothness of gearbox. Changing the motor to a high-torque one can relieve this issue.

 

11.User's fault: Battery heating

Fault Analysis: Critical battery heating is mainly caused by the torque of the motor is not enough for the load or load is too large. Normally, it is because gears are too tight or the main spring is too strong; it could also be caused by the discharge of the battery is not enough or it is at overloading status for a long time.

Solution: Battery with higher discharge rate and capacity is recommended. In addition, for a connector for battery, it is recommended to use an XT30 or mini-Tamiya connector. Investigate the tightness of the gears, the strength of the main spring, and the smoothness of gearbox. Changing the motor to a high-torque one can relieve this issue.

 

12.Fault   Analysis: After installing and firing, I hear a beep after each shot. Only after the beep can I fire again. Why is this?

Solution: No gear rotation detected. Adjust the gear size according to the manual.

 

13. Fault Analysis: I am having problems with the T238 V2.0 Bluetooth.
It beeps when the battery is connected, the “selector plate” sensor works, but the trigger sensor doesn't seem to work, and the Bluetooth doesn't work.
Is there a solution for this?

Solution: Problems with the connection of the upper and lower boards, recommend replacing with a new product.

14. User's fault: DTU V2 Pro(v1.7)-Cycle does not complete properly when firing a single shot.

Fault Analysis: Usually it works fine, when I shoot in single the cycle doesn't complete properly resulting in misfires or even bursts instead of a single shoot, usually just switch the selector between single to full auto and back to single it fixes the problem but only after a few shoots while it reconfigures the precocking on the first shoots. I have disassembled the gun to make sure it was properly installed and didn't had dirt on the sensor and also reconfigured the settings and it still happening.

Solution:1- Insufficient battery power.
2-Low motor torque resulting in unstable voltage.
3- Sensor is not working properly.
4- Still no solution, please contact support@t238.net.

 

15. User's fault: Bluetooth Gearbox v2 Unable to use trigger

Fault Analysis: The V2 Bluetooth Gearbox doesn't seem to work with triggers, but selectors do! Why?

Solution:1-Check if the trigger sensor is sheltered via the APP.
2-Recalibrate the trigger sensor by restoring the factory settings via the APP.

16.DTU V2 QUALITY (V1.42) Fault Problems(Please click on the image to view the video)

User's fault: I installed the new plate. The sound signal through the engine is barely audible.
The board will always toggle the selector. I have attached a video to bring the camera closer to the motor so you can help me identify what the problem is after firing it once. I have followed the problem sheet but cannot identify it.
I have another question. Why does it also fire in the SAFE position as well?

Solution:1. Safe position will be struck is a structural problem of the gearbox, need to adjust the safe lever to ensure that the selector in the safe position can hold the trigger
2. The sound strength is related to the motor, it is recommended to replace the strong magnetic brush motor to improve the sound.
3. The beep indicates abnormal gear rotation, which may be due to slow rotation speed, insufficient battery power, a damaged gear switch, or the gear switch being too far away from the gear, it is recommended to dismantle the gear and check one by one to make sure that the gear can be triggered by the gear switch once after one revolution.
